Twenty-Fifth day — Activating the Vagus Nerve by Dr. Navaz Habib
Today the prickling sensation was stronger I was getting more cautious, but it did not help at all. I did about 3,000 steps I stopped and wind down with the BaDuanJin. Now the prickling sensation came like a spark without any form of stimulation. Even when I was sitting still or standing it could erratically spark. For sure somewhere the throat or tongue was overstretched.
Thinking back two years ago after I had the first incident of the syncope that caused the head trauma resulting in the brain hemorrhage, I stayed at home for a month not talking to anyone nor doing much social media. I was diligently writing Chinese calligraphy in the morning, afternoon I watched and learned from YouTube, about Chinese calligraphy. In the late afternoon, I started exercising and slowly increased the number of steps and eventually on the last week of the month could complete 10,000 steps. In that month, I had cleared the haemorrhage and there was no incident of syncope. The distinct differences this time was: One, I had more interaction with others; Two, I was not so focus in the morning on any specific activity. Three, I did exercises in the morning and the evening. I was wondering perhaps I should relooked at the routine. As I was getting a worst result than two years ago. The prickling sensations were getting stronger and more frequent as compared to when I was recuperating in the hospital. That is something I have to consider.Learning and reminded by the book, so I should make some routine to incorporate them
- Correct breathing method, breath with DanTian (Diaphragm). Deep slow breathing and long breathing
- Relax the muscle
- Meditation, focus on the breath, relax. Using the Diaphragm to breathe.
- Sleeping side ways is the best, especially on the right, sleeping on the back not advisable.
- Enough good sleep. This can be measured by the smart watches.
- Cold shower is good.
- Intermittent fasting can jolt the body
- Listening to Mozzart. Music is relaxing.
- Exercise, such as yoga
- Gargling with salt water, twice a day
- The vibration of sound, HOM, and musical equipment.
- Massage is good for health.
Late afternoon I was feeling a little light and experience more sporadic prickling sensations. My anxiety was rising. Strange sensation started to rise from the belly upwards. I took slow deep breath and wondered how I could tame the anxiety? I recalled two years ago, after doing 10,000 steps and all sweat, I cool down by playing the Tibetan bowl. That was my routine during the one month recuperation period after the first syncope. Yes. I took the Tibetan bowl filled it up with some water and started to play it. The high pitched seem to have some effect on the ears. It did calm my anxiety and seem to reduce the prickling sensation too. I was jokingly texting my wife that this was sonic treatment.
After feeling better, I cooked my dinner with a new concoction. Cooking is fun and experimental and a creative process. My wife is always happy to eat what I cook but my sons detest the mild taste. They always like something strong and crispy.
