Ninth Day - 2500 steps in the morning
Morning Exercise
Morning I woke up at about 7:30am, laid on the bed, stretched a little and sit up for a little longer before calling the nurse. I was told to call the nurse each time I go to the toilet. She came, help me with the heart monitoring device. Yes, I had three wires that was attached to the left and right of my chest and another on the lower of the left lung to the left. This device would track my heart rate and wirelessly send to their monitoring centre. Each time my heart stopped that would be alerted. A good device to have to keep a record off the heart and perhaps with a long term reading, more can be learned about the disease.
I did 2500 steps today, by walking forward and backward along the circulation space at the end of my bed. The nurse kept watch for a while and left after seeing I was alright doing what I was doing. After the walking I started on the BaDuanJin (八段锦). There was no hurry, so I added a few more breathing sequence between the movement.
Dr Rhamani
He came before my breakfast. He remarked that he saw me exercising. Glad that he knows. I told him I am feeling fine and there were a few slight pricking sensation while I took precaution to eat and not exciting that part of the tongue. I always swallow with the tongue in place and only the throat did the movement.
He spoke to me about Tegretol again and asked if I would considered it. If yes he would have to do the gene test for me, before I am clear of the HLA-B*1502 gene, otherwise ii would have adverse side effect. I wrote that I am alright with the present prescription, Lirica, 50mg after dinner and 25mg with supplement after breakfast.
The standard Check by Dr. Rhamani
- Both eyes are to follow his fingers while they move around the peripheral of my vision from left to the right in an almost over pattern.
- Close my eyes tightly.
- Stick out my tongue.
- Lift up both arms leveling horizontally with fists positioned at the chest, hold firm while he presses the elbow downwards and me resisting his force.
- Stretch out both arms, with palm facing up then down, spreading the fingers out and hold firmly while he tries to close the fingers.
- Stretch out the legs and thigh, resist his force while he presses on the knees.
- Tough his index finger, which is held in front of me, with my right index finger then my nose. Repeat with the left index fingers. The faster I complete the task the better.
- Indicate either right or left of his horizontally outstretched fingers are moving by looking straight at him. Checking my peripheral vision perhaps.
My Neck
The nurse noticed that my neck was red. I indicated to her, with hand sign that I massage it as it was painful. The sharp deep pain on the back of my head had reduced slightly last night when I massage it before sleeping. There was still a small sore lump along the back of the head on the right side of the spine. I massage the head while laying down, that way the muscles were not tense and I could reach deeper into the space around the back of the head. I guessed the skin maybe red because of the friction of massage without essential oil.
Evening Exercise
I did another 2500 steps and also the BaDuanJin. The heart beat went up to 120 bpm after I did the exercise number 6 and 7. I had to stop and regulate the breath between each sequence.
