Forty Third day - Mental Health

Sleep is one of the major contributor of mental health.

A child with epileptic seizure was given another psychotic drug and he was dead some days later. Drug dependency was a major killer in his country according to the author of 'Mental Health Inc', Art Levine. Other cases were old age home where folks were fed with drug to sedate them in the night resulting on quick deterioration in health resulting in death; returning soldiers' dependency on depressant and painkillers eventually led to overdose and death.

Psychotic Drug

The message was clear, drug dependency is doom. One has to take responsibility for one' s health and not depend on health care workers alone. I have to depend on myself for my own well-being. I have to find my own solution and keep at it. My discipline, persistence, and faith are keys to my well being. There are no magical drug for the quick fix to my condition but only a temporary one. The nerve misbehaviour is still a mystery for doctors after many years. It is one for me too, however, I am determined to find a solution. One which is natural and not dependant on synthetic drug.

Removing drug dependency is my major concern. Lirica is not good if I kept taking it everyday. That was why I went for the Gama Treatment. They were my temporally solution so that my fainting spell can be controlled, the syncope stopped so as to reduce damage to my other organs. Meanwhile I can have time to figure out a way to retune and balance my body to systematically improve my nerve function. I knew drug and Gama treatment was the temporary solution to buy time. I needed time to physically nurse my health and find a solution.

For the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) diagnosis would be that there is some block in my system resulting in the extreme sharp pain. Choking point cause stoppage in the flow of 'Chi' and if the stoppage is removed it should improve my condition and cure it. The only question is where is the blockage? One way is to improve the over all flow of the whole body and slowly learn about the 'meridians' and attend to those possible points specifically. We had also booked a well-known TCM doctor at a local governmental hospital.

Exercise

For the overall flow, sweating and exercise, is one good start. I had done jogging and also the Chinese BaDuanJin everyday. It seems to help. Initially it had acerbated the prickling, as I continued each day, the prickling slowly reduced. One thing I did was to focus on jogging and breathing. Breathing is the start of the movement of 'Chi', breathing using the belly is the preferred method for a relax run. The focus at times causes the muscle to tense up, the relax breathing has to be relax, so that the jog is effortless. A form of contradiction and struggle which I had to practise until I reconcile them. Jogging fast effortlessly breathing from the belly.

I did about five thousand steps. It was a good sweaty jog. My breathing was not so smooth until much later. Not sure why I felt so. I started early as we are going to sent my son for his final project printing. We are also excited to see his work I full size, twice A0.

I felt really good after the exercise. I sweated profusely. It gave me a good start for the Day.

Birding

I went out to continue my documentation of the Bishan Park Bird watching. It was a good exercise and a good way to create more work of art. I usually shoot videos. We were lucky as my wife spotted the Changeable Hawk one that seldom appear in Bishan Park. We had been doing birding for almost a year now. I only stopped for a  months due to this condition. Although she had been watching them, she only took up bird photography a few months ago. It is a good endeavor. It is a joy to watch the colourful feathers of the birds and their behavior.

Sleep

The new sleep measuring device reported that my sleep was good and adequate. I was please. The ROCK’s measurement had been debunked. However, the interpretation of the sleep pattern needs further study and analysis to better understand my sleep.
